► HEADCANONS

► After Billy died she was lost. She'd anticipated spending the rest of her life with him, growing old and dying and now he was just gone, their lives having barely started. Mrs S. was hopelessly in love, the happiest she'd ever known and now she was crushed. And she didn't know what to do -- she didn't know how to grieve, didn't want to let him go and she didn't really know anyone. Mr Mountjoy ended up saving her, sending an angel to her who stays by her, helped her and then gave her the job that she has today. Having a purpose again has helped her to keep going in life, taking her into the world and making her live. She still hasn't really mourned, his things packed in boxes in her house or locked away in a room she can't handle going into but she's taking it day by day.

► Before she gave up her wings she was Hael, the angel of kindness.

► Having her wings removed is the worst physical pain that Mrs S. has ever felt. She knew that it wouldn't be pleasant to experience but nothing could have prepared her for how it would really feel, something carried with her in the intense scars on her back. Though some days her scars ache they don't cause her any real issues. Unless she's had a nightmare. It's rare that it happens but she's dreamed about that moment, her back almost burning with pain afterwards as if the blade is again cutting through her. Those end up being difficult days.

► She came to Earth ~2008, married Billy June 16, 2010, and lost him in December 2010, six months after he became ill (and they married). Both the dates for their anniversary and the date of his death hit her hard. She hasn't properly grieved, she hasn't begun moving on from him and she keeps her feelings very tightly compacted, refusing to really even talk about Billy because of how much it hurts -- it's still very recent (canon point June 2011).

► The birthday that she chose for herself for her human documents is ~late June (June 29, 1974), making her a Cancer and fitting with her personality (intuitive, giving, creative, loyal).

► When she met Billy she went by her first name, keeping it with friends even after he'd given her his nickname. It was only after he died that she stopped using her first name, going only by Mrs Sheringham as a way to still feel connected with him. She'd fallen out of touch with her friends, keeping more to herself in her grief, most of her contact later being with the angels that she guided who knew her as and were happy to simply call her Mrs Sheringham -- or Mrs S., not questioning it (not really knowing better). With someone she befriends, someone that she really trusts it's possible that she could give them her first name but it would mark a big step in a friendship.

► She uses her clothes as a defence surrounding her scars, with how vulnerable she feels dictating how layered or thick-layered her clothing is. On most days for work, she has a blouse and a jacket, the jacket not always necessary but partly for professional style and partly for the thinner materials of her blouses. Casually at home, she often feels comfortable enough in just a shirt, pulling out an additional layer if she isn't feeling quite as confident, even though the thickness of her shirt would mean that no one could see her scars anyway. They're something that she keeps well-hidden, refusing to talk about or have them shown. Part of this is because of how painful they are, part of it is in not knowing how to explain them (she can't tell the truth) and part of it is in knowing that what she gave up her wings for, the life she'd wanted ending up being ripped from her just as her wings had, something she also can't talk about.

► She enjoys softer music, things more instrument-focused than vocal, enjoying jazz, blues and folk-style pieces of music.

► She did a lot of research on Ireland and Irish culture in order to flawlessly be an Irishwoman, ensuring that Gaeilge ended up being one of the languages she still knew when she became human and finding somewhere that felt home to her in Ireland. She's not very good at holding her whiskey, though.

► Whilst angels are able to know and understand most human languages, having experienced them develop, her own knowledge is a little dampened due to no longer having her angelic powers. Whilst she's still very good at translating written languages, the issues come in translating verbally and speaking the languages. There are some that she remains fluent in, some that she can translate the majority of and some that she no longer knows, something that would come quicker again if she worked at it but isn't instinctively there, something that's been a source of frustration before.

► Ice cream is her go-to comfort treat. It's something that she likes anyway but when she's sad nothing seems to cheer her up quite like it. She's tried many different flavours of ice cream, preferring a simpler flavour, though if someone brings her a slightly more ridiculous ice cream (with sprinkles or other adornments) it doesn't fail to make her laugh.
