[ She's been spending the days since she returned home very quietly, trying to mull over July's events. The storm had been quite awful, but she'd spent the night hiding in the cellar with Helga as the dome shattered above them. And then came the clean up, slowly working through the house to repair the damage done by the storm. Most of it's been done by hand, only using magic for things like shattered windows and such. It's been good, cleaning up — giving her space to think: about how she'd worn herself out, about her deal with Paimon. She's been giving Peter space too, now he's back again and the demon's fallen quiet once more. But they'll need to talk, eventually. They'll need to talk about a lot of things. She's just not sure how.
Mrs. Sheringham is a welcome sight in the days that follow, and she cheerfully invites her in for tea when she comes with muffins. Luna hasn't forgotten the woman's kindness, nor the reminder to take some time for herself — advice she's followed. But company is always nice.
There's something about Luna's home that makes it seem a little out of time compared to other homes in Deerington. There's something about it that's a little closer to the 1920's than anything else. A stylistic choice not made by her, but by Newt before her — this had been his home long before it had been hers. Newt disappeared some months ago now, but she's kept it largely the same. It's oddly charming.
In the kitchen, she offers the woman to sit at the table while Luna busies herself making tea. Helga isn't too far from her, a larger than what's considered usual husky — more like a huge wolf than anything. She's not entirely a... normal dog. Able to understand human speech, stronger and with a supernatural bite. But she's a huge softie, in all honesty. She watches the woman curiously, head tilted. She wants pets, really. ]
This is very kind of you, Mrs. Sheringham. [ Muffins are always a great choice, and she has quite the sweet tooth. And then, with a small, wan smile. ] I haven't had much time for baking lately.
It's something that I've used as my own distraction lately I've found.
( distraction from what has been occurring but also from the fact that she'd died, that she wasn't handling that fact or her return to life very well.
there's a gentle whisper at helga, a hand gesture which the dog seems to respond to before she leans across to pet her, scratching at her ears before giving her lap a pat to let her lay her head on whilst she kept petting her )
And I wanted to check in on you, see how you were doing.
I think I would have preferred that than to scavenging. It's much more peaceful. [ That's how she spent her month back from her own death, back in February. They'd all been down on the bottle of the ocean, in some strange and frightening place known as 'Rapture'. Scavenging for food and water and other basic supplies. It was far better than sitting around being miserable and in pain and unable to sleep.
But yes, spending that time distracting herself with baking would have been much more nice in all honesty.
Helga will absolutely make a beeline for her for pets, her tail slowly wagging as she very gently rests her head in the woman's lap. Yes, she likes this new lady friend of Luna's. She can stay. ]
Oh, I'm alright. Still quite tired, but I've been taking your advice on just... looking after myself. [ And honestly, she has. ] You're actually the first visitor I've had since I came home.
[ In all honesty, 'too many pets' isn't something that crosses Helga's mind all that much. At some point, she's probably just going to sit and keep her head rested in her lap. Probably snooze a little. She's like that. ]
I certainly wouldn't say no to more baked goods. [ It's mostly a joke, the small smile at her lips -- but really. She's got a wicked sweet tooth on her. ] Or if you're ever making it, some Shepherd's Pie would always be nice sent my way.
[ Comfort foods are good. But... as for help, Luna pauses. She pours the woman some tea before pushing the cup over to her. She has a lot to do moving forward from July, and she's certainly been wondering about someone in particular. Or someones. ]
I have... a strange question to ask. [ There's another pause. She's... treading carefully. ] While I was out. The boy who visited, the tall one. Peter. Did he... act peculiar with you at all?
[ For a brief moment, there's a little panic. Because it confirms that while she was out for the count, Paimon was very much in control of Peter's body and she's also worried because Paimon can be... a little wild. She suspects her being unconscious might have distressed him, too. ]
.... Oh. [ It's all she can manage at first. ] Well, Paimon is... he's possessing Peter. Something that happened back home for him. Paimon was in control a lot more last month... more than I thought, it seems.
[ It makes her heart hurt. No wonder Peter was in such a state when she'd persuaded the demon king to let him come back. There's a pause. ]
[ She's... still getting used to the concept of Paimon being... fond of her. Of course she knows he likes her, and whatever bond they have cements that. But it's... strange to hear him spoken of like that. ]
I think it's permanent, yes. I've... never found anything to expel him, I don't even think I can. [ Which is why working with Paimon seems like her only option. ] Something... happened to Peter back home. Paimon's been inside of him ever since he came to Deerington. A year ago, now.
Last month, Paimon got stronger -- because of the Ultimate titles. Peter was the Ultimate Host. [ Luna's... fretful. She'd been terrified when Paimon had given her Peter back after she woke up in the woman's home. He didn't seem to know himself. ] I thought I nearly lost him.

That's good to hear. If there's anything you need whilst you're recovering you just have to ask.
( especially for food considering it can be quite an effort when you're not feeling well )
You've done a lot to help people here, I'd like to help you for a little bit.

( it's easy to add to her mental list, one more little delivery to make that isn't difficult to do.
the next question does make her frown )
I didn't meet Peter. ( is she fully aware of the situation, of the boy underneath? ) I did meet Paimon.

( and very willing to help both luna and herself, concerned with her wellbeing, with caring for her, listening and... perhaps learning.
though the rest of what luna says-- )
But-- possessing him? I've met demons before but... ( they've certainly influenced and essentially controlled people's behaviours but-- ) Permanently possessing him?
