[ Call her old fashioned maybe, but Mrs Sheringham will be getting a phone call from Jean on this particular day during the first week of May, a strange bag placed on the table near her hip and a tarot card held within her hand which she looks over while waiting for the other woman to answer. ]
( maybe she likes the old fashioned. it might have been 2011 at her home but there were some parts of modernity that whilst she knew how to use she didn't really have in her everyday life. a phone call ends up being pretty nice in comparison )
[With everything strange going on she may be surprised to see that she's the recipient of a strange message from a familiar number.]

Hello? - Helloooooooo-
[Before it's Gabriel. Archangel Gabriel - with bright gold eyes, not purple ones. He stole those purple ones but this Gabriel might seem years younger. With Jane's scarf around his neck and a bright expression on his face he waves.]
Hello. Maybe you'll respond to me. You seem nice and I'm lost. This is really awkward and you see I'm-
[He laughs genuinely nervously]
I'm looking for my hierarchy? It means my family I know you...whatever you are...may not have those. I'm a little nervous.
Without Michael you see. Uriel and Sandalphon are absolutely hopeless without me and I'm hopeless without them. My brothers.
No. I was embarrassed, what we did or at least how we did it isn't me. I was at the party before I met you, apparently, there were aphrodisiacs there, that's why I acted as I did.
I heard about that. I was considering going but once I got there and had a glance, I didn't bother checking in. I like partying, but I prefer equal opportunity.
And I don't think of you any differently for what happened. People do irrational things all the time under the influence, but not all of it is scandalous or dangerous. Have you never experimented with party drugs before?
Be honest with her. I didn't have long with my husband but there were things that I'm glad he knew and things I wish he'd known. I can't change that but you can.
There has...been an attempt. At brownies. Jingyi holds a plate covered by a clean dishtowel as he shifts his weight back and forth on the front stoop. He's in his street clothes, jeans and a t-shirt and his headband, with his sword strapped to his back. After a moment of waffling, he leans on the buzzer to announce himself. This was a good idea, he told himself. There was no way he was just going to let someone be sad on his watch.
She looks far less put together than the last time he'd seen her, the closest thing to a mess that she could physically manage even if it's still a very untrue description, oversized cardigan wrapped around her for her to sort of hide behind, her hair very roughly clipped back, though it's the lack of her usual easy warmth that would give her away, exactly why she'd planned on staying home.
Except everyone else is out and there's a visitor at the door, the one thing that she didn't plan on. It leads to a little hesitation before she answers the door, slightly surprised to see Jingyi there particularly with... something in his hands.
"Hi." She's a little quieter, slightly uncertain over what to really do.
[A basket with associated teas, with some small boxes of tea treats to bake. A blue card in the shape of a certain Police Box with; Belated Earth Cycle - The Doctor.
[It's later in the month, after all the shit has hit the proverbial fan, that Fern finally snaps out of his despair. He has one puppy of a musician to thank for that, he owes him more than the guy will probably ever realize, but there it is. With one simple song he's back to normal, the weight of the last few weeks having settled onto him.
For a little while he goes and hides, the guilt of the things he did and said eating him from the inside out. But eventually he realizes there are still people out there he cares about, people who may not have had trials. People who might still be alive and need help, especially with those robots still running around.
So out he goes, sick from the herbicides, scared of getting sucked into another trial or falling into despair again. He tries to shove those fears down, forms a grass sword for some reassurance, and stalks the streets, looking for familiar faces. And oh, does he ever find one.
Luna, looking either knocked out or dead, and some woman. A - woman he remembers speaking to, once before. She had been nice. When Fern sees the two of them he races over, unsure if one or both of them are in danger. Thankfully his lack of despair doesn't mean he's about to attack, though he does look frantic.]
( she'd only just gotten there herself, crouched before the girl, relieved to see that she was at least still breathing, that she wasn't physically injured.
she looks up at him before looking back at luna, continuing to check her to see how she was )
[ She's been spending the days since she returned home very quietly, trying to mull over July's events. The storm had been quite awful, but she'd spent the night hiding in the cellar with Helga as the dome shattered above them. And then came the clean up, slowly working through the house to repair the damage done by the storm. Most of it's been done by hand, only using magic for things like shattered windows and such. It's been good, cleaning up — giving her space to think: about how she'd worn herself out, about her deal with Paimon. She's been giving Peter space too, now he's back again and the demon's fallen quiet once more. But they'll need to talk, eventually. They'll need to talk about a lot of things. She's just not sure how.
Mrs. Sheringham is a welcome sight in the days that follow, and she cheerfully invites her in for tea when she comes with muffins. Luna hasn't forgotten the woman's kindness, nor the reminder to take some time for herself — advice she's followed. But company is always nice.
There's something about Luna's home that makes it seem a little out of time compared to other homes in Deerington. There's something about it that's a little closer to the 1920's than anything else. A stylistic choice not made by her, but by Newt before her — this had been his home long before it had been hers. Newt disappeared some months ago now, but she's kept it largely the same. It's oddly charming.
In the kitchen, she offers the woman to sit at the table while Luna busies herself making tea. Helga isn't too far from her, a larger than what's considered usual husky — more like a huge wolf than anything. She's not entirely a... normal dog. Able to understand human speech, stronger and with a supernatural bite. But she's a huge softie, in all honesty. She watches the woman curiously, head tilted. She wants pets, really. ]
This is very kind of you, Mrs. Sheringham. [ Muffins are always a great choice, and she has quite the sweet tooth. And then, with a small, wan smile. ] I haven't had much time for baking lately.
It's something that I've used as my own distraction lately I've found.
( distraction from what has been occurring but also from the fact that she'd died, that she wasn't handling that fact or her return to life very well.
there's a gentle whisper at helga, a hand gesture which the dog seems to respond to before she leans across to pet her, scratching at her ears before giving her lap a pat to let her lay her head on whilst she kept petting her )
And I wanted to check in on you, see how you were doing.
Hello, Suzanne. This is Leonard. [ In case that wasn't obvious. ]
I thought I'd let you know I'll be looking through the ship's computers today, looking for relevant information. Mostly about the nanites but also the empathy bond and everything else. I thought you might like to join me, if you'd still like me to show you how to use them yourself.
I will be at the labs for this, so please feel free to drop by if you want. Thank you.
[ Awkward pause as he's not sure how to end the message. ] Alright, I'll see you later, hopefully.
( she sends him a quick text back to let him know that she'll be there before getting on with a couple of things for the day, heading later to the labs.
he's already at work on the computers when she gets there, her slowly stepping into the room to greet him )
That's quite alright, Chloe, considering what happens in this town I'm not surprised something slowed your efforts. If you let me know when you're free I'll come pick it up and pay you. Thank you.
