[ Most of the pastries and treats he sends are from a bakery he likes in the square. This is decidedly not.
The box left for Mrs. S. is plain cardboard, and inside is a tupperware-type container. Inside that are half a dozen mixed berry muffins. They're homemade and not cute or neat in the slightest, though it's clear a lot of effort was put into them anyway. Some were overfilled and have lumps of batter oozed over and baked into the sides of their cups. One is half crumbled and the top is a mess of loose chunks that were put back into place. Two have burnt bottoms.
They do, however, smell amazing, and taste at least pleasantly bland. The berries are probably their only saving grace. With them is a small note in equally sloppy penmanship. It says, "Owed you one. Take care, Suz." ]

( she's very touched by the gesture even if they're perhaps not the best muffins, which makes the thought even sweeter )
Though what exactly did you think you owed me for?

You're the first friend I ever made here, and you have a good heart. Those are hard to come by for people like me. I appreciate them, and you.

It's been a while since we've had a coffee, would you like to get some?
