( her motions are gentle as she checks her, light brushes as she works before leaning back, a slight shake of her head )

I can't see anything wrong but I'd like to get her off the street.

( and even though she was small luna was also pretty small meaning she figured she'd be able to carry her away, judging by the fact that she was starting to lift her, light adjustments of her arms to get her secured before lifting her too high and standing )

[Hearing confirmation that she isn't dead sends a wave of relief through him, though he doesn't relax quite yet. Luna still isn't in good shape, so it would be an inappropriate time to chill.]

[He forms a sword in one hand, moving to walk in step with her. Helping is the least he can do.]

I was going to take her to my home in Blackwood Run.

Alright. [That makes sense. Better for Luna to be somewhere where someone can keep an eye on her, rather than just taking her back to her own home and leaving her there.

As they walk, Fern occasionally glances over a little, unable to hide the concern in his expression.]

You think she's gonna be okay?

I think she will be. A little rest, time to recover.

( if she couldn't find an injury source hopefully it was something natural and not anything more concerning. but the girl was alive and her pulse had felt good, it was something )

You're a good friend of hers?

[Fern looks a tiny bit more relieved, and it's enough that he goes back to eyeing their surroundings, staying on alert in case they run into anything hostile.]

Uh - yeah. I think... I think she's one of my best friends here.

Well, she'll be safe at mine. And you're welcome to stay with her too.

( somehow she thinks it'll be difficult to shift him if she tried )

I'll - [He hasn't been doing so hot this month, and the thought of staying at someone else's home when they're still mostly strangers seems like a hurdle he can't get over right now.]

( she lets it fall silent for a moment as they continue the rest of the walk, not speaking again until they're closer to her house )

( her hands are a little full and she doesn't want to have to put luna down )

[He appreciates it. He's going to keep on worry until Luna wakes up. If she wakes up.]

Sure, I got it.

[Easy enough, he'll get the door with his free hand, then step back so she can head inside.]

( she takes luna straight upstairs once they're inside, going to one of the unused bedrooms and laying her down on the bed. there's a little shifting once luna's down to pull the cover back, keeping it simply laid beside her for the moment.

and-- what could she do for the moment but watch her? she could check her again but there weren't any signs of injuries, perhaps waiting for a little moment would be the better thing, to see if she woke naturally )

I'm going to let her rest for a little bit but you can stay with her. Is there anything that I can get you?

[Fern, unsure of what else to do, follows her upstairs to the bedroom. Now that's they're inside he relaxes, letting his whole knight business fade. He makes sure to stand back a little, wanting to stay out of the way, watching anxiously.]

Uh, no. Thanks. I'm okay. I don't - really eat food or whatever, y'know? Plant and all.

[He shrugs faintly.]

( she sounds a little surprised by that (and amazed). sure, he was green and... okay maybe there was something leafy about parts of him but she didn't have any opinion or judgement, he was simply a wonderful being she had no idea about )

Well, plants do have water, unless your species is very different.

[He rubs the back of his head awkwardly, nodding. Yep, not just kind of green and leafy, one hundred percent plant material.]

Not... really, no. What's fine, I guess.

[A glass of water he can dunk his roots into actually doesn't sound too bad right now.]

Then I'll be back in a minute.

( she gives him a small smile before stepping away, heading back down the stairs to her kitchen. there's a chair in the room if he wanted to sit down or the bed was big enough to fit him sitting on it.

she gives him longer than a minute, coming back more about ten minutes later with a glass of water and a coffee for herself, offering it out to him )

[He doesn't return the smile, and when she's gone he's going to go sit at the edge of the bed. There isn't much he can do aside from wait, and it irritates him that he's functionally useless right now. It gnaws at him that he can't cut something and make this whole situation better.

When Mrs. Sheringham comes back he's pretty tense, though he accepts the water.]

It could be a while before she wakes up.

( she pulls the chair out to sit on, resting her coffee cup on her knee )

How did you meet her?

[Fern frowns at that, but there's nothing either of them can do, sadly.]

She messaged everyone last winter about these creatures from her home, nargles, that like to steal junk from people. They infest mistletoe, and I had some growing on me, so she let me borrow a necklace she had that keeps them away.

It's lucky that she was there then. I'll make sure to ask her about them when she wakes up, just in case any return.

( and given this place she was starting to believe that anything was possible )

We don't have other creatures in my world.

Back home we don't have nargles, but we've got loads of other stuff.

Ah-- mostly, though what else there is isn't common knowledge.

( it would be so much easier to deny it all to not have to explain but at the same time there's so much here that wasn't human, he certainly wasn't, explaining it might not be so bad.
